Psychrometric Chart

Psychrometric Chart – Shareware – iOS
Latest Version

Interactive, graphical psychrometric chart application designed for HVAC engineers and designers. The app enables users to effortlessly create and adjust charts and state points via touch controls.

The app allows users to model various processes such as an individual state point, air mixing, sensible heating, sensible cooling, cooling coils, and other processes by linking state points together. New state points can be added by double-tapping on the chart, and existing points can be moved across the graph by holding and dragging them. Property values update in real-time, facilitating precise adjustments.

The tool supports both SI and IP units and permits users to create and store multiple charts. Properties and energy changes for connected points are dynamically calculated and displayed. Additionally, users can share their charts by exporting them as PDF files or directly printing them through AirPrint.

The application is compatible with both iPhone and iPad devices; however, it is optimized for the larger screen of the iPad.

FAQ

What is a psychrometric chart?

A psychrometric chart is a graphical representation of the properties of moist air at a constant pressure. It shows the relationships between temperature, relative humidity, dew point, and other properties of air.

How is a psychrometric chart used?

A psychrometric chart is used by HVAC engineers, industrial hygienists, and other professionals to analyze and predict the properties of air and to design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

What information can be found on a psychrometric chart?

A psychrometric chart typically includes lines of constant dry-bulb temperature, lines of constant relative humidity, lines of constant enthalpy, and lines of constant dew point temperature.

How do you read a psychrometric chart?

To read a psychrometric chart, locate specific points on the chart that represent the temperature and humidity conditions you are interested in. Then, follow the lines to determine the associated properties.

What are some common applications of a psychrometric chart?

Some common applications of a psychrometric chart include HVAC system design, determining indoor air quality parameters, calculating energy consumption for air conditioning systems, and assessing thermal comfort conditions.

Is it possible to plot custom data points on a psychrometric chart?

Yes, it is possible to plot custom data points on a psychrometric chart by using the relevant equations that govern the properties of moist air. This can be done manually or with the help of software tools.

Is there a digital version of the psychrometric chart available?

Yes, there are digital versions of the psychrometric chart available in the form of software applications, online calculators, and interactive tools that offer more functionality and ease of use compared to traditional paper charts.

Can a psychrometric chart help in troubleshooting HVAC systems?

Yes, a psychrometric chart can be a valuable tool for troubleshooting HVAC systems by allowing engineers to quickly assess and compare different operating conditions to identify potential issues such as insufficient cooling or heating capacity.

Are there different types of psychrometric charts available?

Yes, there are different types of psychrometric charts available based on the units used (e.g., SI units or IP units) and specific applications (e.g., comfort chart, industrial process chart).

Where can I find a psychrometric chart for reference?

Psychrometric charts are commonly available in HVAC textbooks, engineering handbooks, and online resources. Many software tools also include built-in psychrometric charts for easy access.
